Mantracker...Again!!

From August 8 to 12, 2010, Sturgeon River Ranch and Prince Albert National Park were happy to host the crew of Mantracker once again for the filming of another episode, this one for Season 6! It was also a thrill for Gord to join Mantracker as they chased OLN's Departures host, Justin Lukach and his cousin Kyle Lukach. This new episode has been airing throughout 2011. The National Parks Project

On September 26, 2010, Sturgeon River Ranch and Prince Albert National Park were very excited to host the filming of an episode of the National Parks Project. This project took place throughout 13 National Parks in Canada with 13 different producers and 39 musicians, and is all about using nature to inspire songwriting. 13 documentaries of the project were filmed (one for each Park) and are now showing on Discovery World HD TV!

Tourism Saskatchewan's Fall Road Trip!!

From September 28 to October 1, Sturgeon River Ranch hosted Becky Poley-Shutz from Tourism Saskatchewan for her Fall Road Trip. Check out the Mantracker spoof video that Becky and Gord shot during the trip!

Gord...On a Cooking Show?!?!?

Yes, that's right. From September 9 to 12, 2010, Sturgeon River Ranch and Ness Core Ventures were happy to be part of filming 3 episodes of Moe and Jeff's Family Food Adventures for Access7 TV. Gord is featured doing a fine job on a bison tenderloin. Ness Core's "One Pot" Bill Hudson shows his prowess in the kitchen, putting together a big breakfast "fit for a blacksmith" while also working with the hosts on a couple fine recipes. Ted and Wanda from Third and Main in Big River wowed us all with some great walleye and a butter tart flambe over ice cream!! And of course, the hosts, Moe and Jeff Merk and their 3 kids, Hannah, Ethan and Zoey amazed us with their culunary skills. This was all enhanced by a ride at the Ranch, fishing at Nesslin Lake with Joe Martel and Chad Dunn and music and dancing at Ness Creek! The episodes will air across Saskatchewan in the spring of 2011! Watch the trailer below!

The Legend of Bison Hughy

On October 3, 2010 Sturgeon River Ranch was happy to host Hugh Gilmore and filmmaker, Mike Farnan and crew as we sought out bison to film for Mike's newest creation, "The Legend of Bison Hughy". This film is based on the true story of Hugh's infamous up close and personal encounter with a bison in just north of the Ranch and just south of Ness Creek. Stay tuned. We'll be posting updates and photos soon on both this site and our Facebook page.

Check out www.bisonstewards.ca for information on this exciting conference held in Big River from June 8 to 10, 2010.

There were exciting speakers and participants from around the world coming to talk about wild bison and other sorts of unique wildlife like elephants, gorillas and caribou!
